Pathway update and WSE HOA Annual Meeting2017

As most residents have noticed the Pathway between upper and middle Ventura by the Park has been closed for construction.  It has taken longer than expected due to the weather and we are hoping it will be completed this month.  In exploring why the pathway started eroding mid way up, a broken 3" plastic pipe was discovered broken in the path.  The origins of the pipe is unknown.  The pipe was repaired and new pipe installed to take the water away from the path.  New drainage is also being installed.  There has been discussion on the board about the repair to the path and the current board has decided that it should be repaired as many people use the path.  Some board members think the path should be closed until the weather improves, bids can be taken and new work done. This would take a number of months and possibly more money.

A second discussion on the board is that some members think that the annual meeting should be held at a neutral site, so they are trying to secure a site.  We will let you know when and if that site is located.

We are looking for new board members, as three current members are "retiring" from the board after 10 years plus.  The annual meeting and five board meetings are attended.  Each member serves for one year.  It is our hope that we find people who are interested in keeping WSE a great place to live.

511. Travelers in Oregon can dial 511 to access the same immediate road and weather information available on TripCheck.

• elect updated reports about driving conditions by highway, mountain pass or major city from easy-to-use menus. The 511 system responds to both voice and touch-tone commands.
• Calls to 511 are local calls when dialed from a pay phone or wire line phone. Mobile phone users are responsible for airtime and roaming charges according to their wireless service contracts, but ODOT does not impose any additional charges.
• Most wireless companies in Oregon provide 511 service. If you cannot use 511, call toll-free (800) 977-ODOT (6368) for road and weather information. Outside Oregon, dial (503) 588-2941.
• Oregon can forward users to the Washington state 511 system for road conditions in that state.

Remember, in Oregon, drivers are allowed to use hands-free devices, but not texting devices or touch cell phones. ODOT encourages motorists to pull off the road and park in a safe area before using cell phones.

WSE HOA Annual Meeting 2017

The WSE HOA Annual Meeting 2017 will be Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Kostur's home, 9865 SW Ventura Ct at 7 pm.  Please let me know if you have any items to be included on the agenda.  At this time there will be a report/discussion on the By Laws Committee (and their interest in possible incorporation of the HOA),  the stairs safety update, the landscaping committee, the web site update,  the social committee, and election of officers.  Anyone interested in serving on the board, please contact me as there will be some vacancies that will need to be filled.  Our next WSE HOA Board Meeting is set for Tuesday December 13, 2016 at 7pm at Marilyn Wieneke's home.  Thanks,  Dianne Kostur  cdkostur@aol.com

Summer

Busy Summer !  The picnic was fun!  We had about 15 homes represented.  The kids and adults all had fun.  THANK YOU to the Social Committee for ALL of your hard work!  We had our third board meeting of the year and are continuing to work on the stairs, the park and the by-laws.  We have had new residents move into the area and hope they will become involved.  The next board meeting will be in December and the Annual Meeting in January.  If you are interested in serving on the Washington Square Estates Board, please let me or any board member know.   Our next event is the Adult Halloween party!  Thanks,  Dianne Kostur, 503-201-9179 or cdkostur@aol.com

Welcome

Welcome to the Washington Square Estates Website and Blog! We're excited to announce that this will be the new hub for neighborhood information coming from the Homeowners association as well as the Neighborhood Social Committee.

We had a great kick off with the renewal of the Progressive Dinner back at the end of May. 3 of our neighbors generously opened their doors and allowed us to bring in food and beverages while we socialized and had a great time. The turnout was fantastic and I can say, we're all really looking forward to the next event coming up, the Summer Picnic in the Park at the end of the cul-de-sac on Ventura Ct., August 29th. Please keep your eye out for more information here, through the Social Committee emails & on posted signs around the neighborhood.

This site is a work in progress. Please be patient as we get everything squared away. You'll notice that there's a navigation menu to the right. Currently these pages are empty, but the will be populated over the next couple of months. If there's a section you feel is missing, please let us know and the board will consider the proposal.
